An application designed to ensure a safe and streamlined pregnancy experience for expectant mothers.

Overview

  • Besides being a team member, i took on the role as the Art director/Visual Designer and lead the overall visual direction of the product.
  • Created the design guidelines.
  • Developed the UI design for the app, creating style guide and components.

The problem

During the pregnancy journey there are three healthcare sectors involved: the general practitioner, the midwife, and the health visitor. each using separate IT systems that cannot share information due to GDPR regulations. The pregnant woman is given a paper journal, which she must carry herself and verbally consent to share information, resulting in an inefficient process.

Methodology

Framework & pre research

The project follows the QISH model, focusing on the Questioning and Insight phases. Desk Research: Conducting comprehensive pre-research through desk research to build a foundational understanding of the subject.

Qualative insights

Interviewed with pregnant women, a midwife, and a health visitor. Focusing on the pregnant individuals' needs during pregnancy. Researching communication challenges across healthcare sectors and emphasizing pregnant individuals' involvement in interviews.

Empathy map & value proposition

Gathering insights from the research, we applied them to the Empathy Map to gain a deeper understanding of pregnant women's thoughts and considerations. These insights were then incorporated into the Value Proposition Canvas to identify pains and gains.

Pregnant women often lack a full overview of their journey, making it essential to provide structured and accessible information to enhance their sense of control.

Improved Communication Among Healthcare Professionals

Miscommunication occurs due to differing perceptions of information's importance and phrasing. Establishing standardized procedures and shared terminology can help bridge these gaps.

Understanding and Remembering Information

The large volume of information can be overwhelming and difficult to retain. Clear, concise, and well-structured communication, supported by user-friendly UI can help improve comprehension.

The Timeline offers a comprehensive, chronological view of pregnancy-related information, with a unique ability to spotlight the most relevant details in real-time.

Contextual Information

The user is able to follow developments in the body and the baby's growth, all presented in a visually engaging manner. These milestones aren't just markers; they're the users guide to understanding what to anticipate each week. Ensuring your pregnancy journey is both informative and visually pleasing.

Within the app's Health Data section, users can access all the data traditionally recorded in a physical maternity journal, such as blood pressure measurements, urine samples, or glucose tolerance test results.

AI technology assists in simplifying medical terminology found in the journal notes by recognizing specific terms and providing explanations.
